cannot append segment. video streams have different data formats

"cannot append segment. video streams have different data formats". such message appears when i tried to join 2 divx with virtualdub (these files before were converted with dr. divx from mpeg into avi). what's the problem?

have you checked (virtualdubmod is that?) file info for both segments to confirm match?

1st video stream:
frame size - 288x224, 2.000 fps (500000 mikro s)
# of frames (time) - 345 (2:52)
decompressor - divx pro 5.0.3 codec
number of key frames - 12
min/avg.... key frame size - 15193/19808/23292 (233 K)
min/avg... delta frame size - 8/8357/29145 (2718 K)


2nd video stream:
frame size - 288x208, 2.000 fps (500000 mikro s)
# of frames (time) - 532 (4:26)
decompressor - divx pro 5.0.3 codec
number of key frames - 6
min/avg.... key frame size - 12768/16657/19692 (98 K)
min/avg... delta frame size - 8/6934/21912 (3563 K)

can i do smth (convert them etc.) with them to join?

I've typed this out once and lost it looking through vdub for help!

I'm into new territory here but if you can't add them as chapters in an authoring application due to them being compressed, I'd be tempted to decompress them in vdubmod and then add them in your authoring app.
I just don't know how much "appending" segments need to match up.

Use the VirtualDub (or VirtaulDubMOD) "resize" filter to change the framesizes of both files to the same size...
