    AC3 on DVD-R Help please!

    Hello,
I recently encoded some music into AC3 format, thinking it would be able to play on my stand alone DVD player. I recoreded it onto a DVD-R disk for playback. I had made a test record on CD-R with one of the tracks and it worked. But the DVD-R is unreadable accoring to my player. I have used in the past DVD-R so I know its not the format (-/+).

All I'm trying to do is make an audio DVD playable on my standalone player. I dont want to use MP3 as of the lack of quality do to the compression. Is there a way to make my DVD readable? I have almost 2GB to record so I cant just put it onto a CD.

    Any help would be great,

    Thanks

    Thanks
how much compression u think AC3 file does?

use mp3 at variable bitrate above 300 ull get nice quality or use loosless variable wma format, ull be happy.

now for AC3 multi-channel audio on dvd, well thats what DVD-Audio format is.

ur dvd player should support the format, also all the files should be in Audio_TS folder for dvd-audio.
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!

yes, I realize that AC3 does use compression aswell, but with an MP3 file I found that the high and low tones were to compressed together even when using extremly high bitrates.

Anyway, with multi-channel AC3 is there a differance or is AC3 always multi-channel? or will it work either way?

I will try recording it again with the Audio_TS folder, I have tried that but I also had the Video_TS folder because I used Nero to record.

          I believe you are mistaken.

Have you personally created an .AC3 audio-only DVD that plays on a standalone DVD player?

If you have accomplished this, by all means, please post specific details (software and procedures) explaining...

okay, lets say I I convert all my AC3 files into MP3 now, what program is out there that will allow me to do this? I have tried BeSweet, but I am unable to set any properties when doing batch mode. I will need to be able to use some sort of que to load the files in as there are lots of songs. Doing them 1 by 1 would take ages.

Thanks for the link, but how does that help?
I see no link for AC3 files, and in nero the closest setting would be for AAC files, which I have no clue what they are.

                    no i hav'nt created any dvd-audio disk.

but having said that, i know the format of dvd-audio and what he wants to do is actually DVD-Audio, thats DD audio only on dvd.

not all dvd players support dvd-audio, thats why i said ur player should support the format. also the format suggests the audio files should be in AUDIO_TS folder.

if u think im missing anything pls correct me .......?

You cannot simply place an audiostream in the "AUDIO_TS" folder of a DVD and expect it to playback on a standalone DVD player.

You can learn more specifics regarding "how to" create audio-only DVDs, rather than speculating, by using the following primary link to connect to a mutlitude of relevant sites:

ok setarip thats what u wanna do now pls read my posts again, also searh about the DVD-Audio format ull learn what i was talking bout.

the link u gave and what he found was to how make audio disk on dvd thats not what "dvd audio" is. dvd-audio is a multi channel Dolby digital "AC3" format.

also i didnt say coping audio files to AUDIO_TS will make it readable, its just like u need ur files in video_ts for ur dvd to work u need ur files "what ever those will be" in audio_ts for dvd-audio.

also let me tell u again not all dvd players will play dvd-audio only high grade models, the expensiv one's only support the format.

                          its like HDCD that came few years back, though the hdcd's will play on normal cd players but true hdcd frequency and quality will come only on hdcd compatible cd players. {hdcd = high definition CD}
