    No audio playing mpg files

Since a few weeks all my mpeg1 file only play video and no audio in win98 and Winmedia 6.4.
    Used to work before!

Winmedia starts downloading a codec, the Fraunhofer IIS Mpeg Layer 3 codec.
After a message box appears saying the decompressor didn't work. The video starts playing but no audio.

In quicktime player the audio and video play fine.

    Virtualdub file information for audio:
    32KHz stereo, 64kbs layer II

Why does Winmedia always want to download the MP3 codec?

What you are describing makes no sense, since MPEG1 files typically do NOT contain .MP3 audiostreams...

      Thanks for noticing that too.

Seems to me the Winmedia associates layerII audio included in mpeg1 files with MP3.
      Maybe in the registry?
Anyway, if anyone has an idea!
