    HI 8 Video to VCD

    Hi again
Anyone out there know a solution?
I have a HI8 Digital video cam which I'm trying to put onto VCD or DVD disk. I captured the video (15mg) just to try out. After numerous CD's I can finally see the picture & sound on my DVD stand alone player. However the streaming is crappy. Looks like a bad E-Mail video (Jerky not smooth). The downloaded video is in MPEG which is converted within Nero Express. I'm writting at 4x (slow as I can go). I am not compressing (DVD Shrink). If I capture the video from Roxio Easy Platinum I can get an AVI file. Same steaming issue.
Any help that will make this headache go away wiould be appreciated.
    Thanks

When do you first notice the jerkiness...in capture, after processing the MPEG or only on the CD?

I notice it during capture first. Then on the CD. Which, if I jump to your thought, it is not captured correctly. Hense jerky copy on the CD.
      Any capture advice?
      Tks

Jerky capture is usually a VCR or very old VHS tape copied at SLP issue. Run a cleaning tape thru the VCR. Watch the VHS on the TV and see if it's jerky there. Fiddle with the VCR settings. Even if it looks good on the TV, if the tape is too old (or has been stored next to the TV) and has demagnetized there's nothing that can be done save taking it to a video professional for remastering. Try a newer tape and see if the jerkiness is there, too. Upgrading to Gold RCA Composite cables might help. Oops...IC...it's a Hi8 8mmvid...captured with that Roxio POS. Run the composites direct to the TV and see it the vid is jerky...if it's smooth there then get short gold composite/s-video cables for both the camera and roxio (if it's that external device I'm thinking of) and make sure the connections are secure. If it's still jerky it's probably the capture device.
