    mpeg to DVD

I am new to this, so please bear with me.

My brother just moved to Iceland, from USA. He has asked me to record 6-7 hours a week of TV, and burn it to DVD.

My computer has a ATI TV Wonder VE tuner card, running software v8.0, and a Pioneer DVD (-)(+) RW drive. I have uLead (not sure what version) for DVD authoring software.

I simply want to get as many shows onto 1-2 dvd's per week so I can get them to him. I have good knowledge of how to capture the shows, but i'm not so good at which format I should be recording in. I also have 80GB free on the hd. Do I need more space to do this job?

BTW, I did a trial run last week, and was able to record a 1hr TV show in mpeg2 to about 2.7gb. I then burnt it to DVD-R (which took about 2.7gb), and it worked in the standalone dvd player flawlessly! However, I do not want to send 6 dvd per week. PQ was almost as good as my first tivo!

encode ur video at low resolutions, lower ur bitrate aswell, say round 3000. check if the quality is acceptable.[though it will be better then svcd of 2500 if viewed on tv].

my power director has 3 options for dvd
1: long play 352*288 at 1750 180 min can be fit on dvd.
2: standard play 704*576 at 3400 120 min can be fit on dvd.
3: high quality 720*576 at 8000 only 60 min per dvd.

incase of ntsc resulotion will change like 352*240 for ntsc instead of 352*288 pal..
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!
