changing dvd decoder for media player?

have couple of mpeg2 decoders installed, powerdvd and mainconcepts's own decoder.
media player 9 was using power dvd's decoder now it uses mainconcepts..... i just want it to use powerdvds decoder without uninstalling mainconcept.
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!

I'm not really au fait with this decoder malarky but I read a thread way back saying WMP uses DirectShow?
This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!

what do u mean..... windows dont have any mpeg2 decoders, it uses third party decoders for mpeg2 files.

i have more then one decoder installed, but want media player to use cyberlink's decoder not the other i have.

I've not tried yet but it is said that zoomplayer can manage directshow filters/codecs priority...

just install zoomplayer and try to resolve codecs priorities. I suppose they are set for all dshow application, so that u can use the player of your choice...
