I have a following problem. I want to transfer my old VHS tapes to DVD. I tried with several program (Ulead DVD movie factory 2 SE, SOnic MY DVD etc), but I still get the same problem. MPG file that I capture, seems to bi OK, even when I do the authoring, on my PC everything is fine, but when i play DVD on stand-alone player, on my TV, it looks like its loosing frames or something like it...
Does anybody know what this could be?

What kind of capture device (or card) do you have, and does it support high quality mpeg 2?

Your problem may either be related to low quality DVD media or, possibly your standalone DVD player may need a cleaning.

Maxell makes a DVD/CD cleaning disc that retails for approximately $10US...

I doubt that is the problem because I tried SONY And VERBATIM DVD media, and I tried those discs on 2-3 standalone players...

It's the same, sound is ok, but video looks like it is loosing frames...If camera is standing still, it's not that bad, but it's still not perfect, but when the camera is moving, it's terrible...

                    Could you be more descriptive?

Do there appear to be "ghost images" trailing?

Are there lots of small horizontal lines

Or does the motion appear to be "choppy" and "staggering"?

Did you try them on more than one standalone DVD player?

This is really freaky that I had read this post earlier. This evening I decided to try capturing a hi-res video from Hi8XR using my Digital8 camcorder's firewire. I have been doing this for a while, but this time I decided to try the Windows MovieMaker, which seemed ok when I did low-res stuff with it before. This time I captured the video to 720x480 for DV and I edited/rendered the final product with Adobe Premiere. When I played back the video I got the same thing! The video jitters with camera movement. This particular video was a wedding that I had filmed and the movement was my panning the camera around the church while on a tripod. On the other side of the church were several windows with fairly bright glare from the sun shining through. When I passed across the windows was where I really noticed it, but I could even see it when I followed the bride up the aisle, which was very slow movement.

I captured the same video using Adobe Premiere and it came out as clear as a bell. I'm not sure if it was MovieMaker or something interfering with it, but there was something wrong. I'm going to stick with capturing with Premiere because the waste of an hour like that really sucked.

Maybe choppy and staggering is the closest descruption. Plus, I would add it is very, very interlaced, or to say, it looks like it is very interlaced...

For burning I use NERO 6 Ultra, and I tried it on two different players...
