Video won't play from PC to Tv

I have a ATI All in Wonder Radeon card, I've just recently hooked it up to my tv, my desktop and internet is fine on the tv, but I cannot playback any video (dvd, vcd, divx) on the Tv, only on my Pc and the tv will have everything fine but the video screen, it's just black.

Do I need a Pc to Tv converter? If so, any recommendations would be appreciated.

Answer is quit simple and u just need to follow next steps:

on desktop right click then properties-->on display properties choose Settings-->then Advanced-->chhose the page with the name of your graphic card-->the try to find OVERLAY CONTROLS
When u find it look for something like FULL SCREEN DEVICE and choose PRIMARLY
I have NVIDIA but that is something common for all cards.

Okay, I found overlay, it's a little different than what you described. It's on it's own tab in my display properties advanced, I also have no option to change anything in there. What I get when I first click it it...

These overlay settings are only available in dual controller clone mode, and not single display or extended desktop settings.

The options that are there but I cannot use are under a tab called clone mode options...

      Overlay display mode
Standard -- Theater -- Same on all

      Theather mode settings
Same as source video -- Fullscreen video

      Display device aspect ratio
      4:3 -- 16:9

There is nothing with my cards name but I did find it under adapter, but the only options there are...

      General, Driver, and Resources

i forgat to tell u that u need to set up a clone mode to have picture of your desktop on tv screen then u can use overlay controls. It's diferent then i discribe because i have Nvidia card but that is almost same thing. I think that u should use next settings:
        theater----full screen----4:3

Okay, so how do I set up clone mode? There is no option for that in overlay, the message I get when going there is...

These overlay settings are only available in dual controller clone mode, and not single display or extended desktop settings.

I've just looked at my Radeon properties menus and it warned overlay clone mode options are only available when a file type that supports overlay is played.
I've not got a tv handy but I hope this helps.

So a Dvd wouldn't support overlay?

                hi pop0331

I had the same problem with my ATI video card too. I just got it

setup right few minutes ago. I think you can fix your problem by

go to Display Properties>Settings>Advanced ..here it should

brings up the ATI Graphic card settings, set your monitor to

primary and your TV to secondary at the Displays tab if you

haven't done that already. Next click on the Overlay tab, click

on Theater mode to enable it. Apply that, exist the Display

Properties and try your video again ...hope this will help.
