    Hbo Hdtv

Does anyone know why HBO HDTV movies look much better than their DVD counterparts? Do they convert the 35mm film directly into 1080i? Or do they upconvert the existing 480p into 1080i? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would guess they're working off of 1080i converted from the original 35 or 70mm film.. can't be upconverted DVD-quality material. I agree - it looks great! Just fire up something that you already have in your DVD collection, get them synched up. and do A>B comparisons. No contest.

Now, if I could just find a way for my Fusion HDTV QAM card to break past the encryption - and capture HBO in 1080i!

You really don't want to post such a thought at these forums...
