I need some help.

I downloaded VirtualDub software from this site so that I could split my DVD Rips into 2 parts (DVD Rips I downloaded).

My hard drive is so dang full because the files are too large to fit on a CD-RW

With VirtualDub I am able to get the files into two equal parts, thats not the problem, but when I follow the steps on this site to set the audio it just wont do it. I see the video before the sound!!!

I followed the steps here: http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/cutavi.html EXCATLY several times. I've been trying to pull this off for hours now. PLEASE HELP !!!!

B = 23.986
C = .01

Converted 47:19.731 into 2839.731 Seconds

C * T / A * 1000 = 1184 ( .01*2839.731/23.976*1000=1184 )

What am I doing wrong here?

2) Are you making certain to cut on a keyframe?

3) Was the original file synchronized before you attempted to split it?

Yep, I did just as the instructions on the site said.

2) Are you making certain to cut on a keyframe?

Yes, I made it a point to use the keyframe button rather than just slide the bar.

3) Was the original file synchronized before you attempted to split it?

No idea of even how to do that. The instruction site doesnt say anything about it.

I don't know. All I know is this movie I'm talking about (OsmosisJones) is a *.AVI file.

An Error I forgot to mention. I get this when I first open the video file in VD.

Well, you've had your answer from the beginning...
Simply follow the specific suggestion made clearly by VirtualDub to extract an uncompressed WAV file -

1) Under the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Full Processing Mode"

2) Click on "Conversion" and select "48,000"

3) Click on "Compression" and select "Uncompressed PCM"

4) Under "File", select "Save WAV" and select a name for the uncompressed .WAV file

5) Close VirtualDub

6) Re-start VirtualDub

7) Load your video file

8) Under "Audio", select "Wav audio"

9) Load your Uncompressed PCM audio file

10) Under "Audio", select "Conversion" and select "44,100"

11) Select "Compression" and select (assuming you have it) "MP3" and whichever 44,100 setting is available for MP3 (96 to 320)

12) Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"

13) Save your file with a new filename

14) Close VirtualDub

15) Re-start VirtualDub and perform your slicing and dicing

(or you might want to look into the capabilities of Nandub regarding .AVI files with VBR audio)

Its too late here to try it now so I'll give it a shot tomorrow and post the results!

Funny thing is. I learned Dreamweaver in a day but I was totally lost on VirtualDub...

I guess I'm just not cut out for digital editing.

Hmmmm, I don't have "MP3" in the Compression list. Do I need to download something?

Download and install the Radium MP3 codec from:

http://www.riphelp.com/downloads/radium_codec.html
