I'm looking to buy a new portable dvd player. I was wondering if any of you had any recommendations on portable dvd players that play all of the dvd media(dvd-r, dvd-rw, dvd+r, dvd+rw). I don't really want to spend more than 250 dollars. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

if you go to any site that sell things like amazon etc. they will sell you what you want if they have it in stock. look around on websites to find what you need. Oh yeah Sony is good, so is Panasonic and Philips.

Visit the store in person, chose then buy
By that I mean do not trust what it says in the write up. Visit several stores selling portables, but take along a burned movie, a CDmp3 disc, a photo CD disc and a copy of any type of file you intend to play. Make them show you it indeed does work. Next go to where ever you can get the best deal and buy what worked.
I just visited Costco and proved to myself their very inexpensive Polaroid unit played everthing I threw at it.Comment
