question on convert Video to Digital

I have an ATI AIW Radeon 9600 video card, which I input video via an HI8 Camcorder and transfer the video into the computer using TV record mode (in ATI MMC 9.0). When I play the video back I get a small band at bottom of the video..How can I eliminate this band?

Here is a photo of it..you can see the band at bottom of the frame.

    Thanks!

If the file is in MPEG (1 or 2) format, you can crop this off in TMPGEnc or TMPGEncPlus.

If it's an .AVI file (DivX-compressed or otherwise), you can accomplish the cropping with VirtualDub or VirtualDubMOD...

In order for long video tapes to be made researchers discovered they had to angle the VCR heads. The side effect is the bar across the bottom...where excess video info is shoved. When you s see a similar bar across the top....that comes from TV closed captioning.
