best media brand for DVD+R?

Had a few questions and couldn't find them in the forum search. If anyone can answer them, I'd appreciate it.

1. Just bought an external (portable) DVD+R/RW burner, should I have splurged $100 more for the DVD+R/RW / DVD-R/RW burner?

2. Which media brand is the best for DVD+R/RW? Ritek?

3. Are there double sided 9.4 GB DVD+R? I've only found them for DVD-R....is that a limitation?

4. I'm still not sure, which is more compatible in stand alone DVD players, DVD-R or DVD+R? or should I say better?

I'm all new to this, thanks in advance.

I think my advice, had you asked BEFORE you purchased this, would have been to wait a couple of months (or less) for the new Dual Layer burners.

These will most likely all be dual format, plus have the dual layer capability.

From what I understand they will also be around $250.

As far as media, from what I gather different brands work best for different people. Mostly because of the difference in burners and formats. A general rule of thumb is you get what you pay for.
