mpeg file not playing

whenever I try to open an mpg file online in IE, windows media player comes up, and says "connecting..." but it is frozen, and doesn't do anything.

mpg files play fine from my computer, just not from online. I tried opening the same file on another computer, and it worked perfectly.

I've recently updated IE, windows media player, and installed the following:

Arsoft showbiz
sonic myDVD
PowerDVD
Hp simple backup

and an HP dvd writer dvd200i

Also note that it opens fine in mozilla firefox on this computer, just not in IE.

Does it work with other players like mplayer2 ???

Note: You can find the mplayer2.exe in you MediaPlayer folder...


Which decoder is used when playing it with mplayer2 ???

Watch: Properties -> Extended -> Used filters...

Simple answer... Windows Media Player 9 sucks !!!

Use MediaPlayerClassic (MPC) or ZoomPlayer instead...
