    Firewire/DV Fulscreen Utility

I was just wondering if there was a simple utility (or perhaps something I already own like Premiere) that could display incoming video from a camcorder to a firewire port on the computer monitor full screen.

Sort of like the effect of just plugging a camcorder into a television, only I'd like to do the same thing using IEEE1394.

    Thanks in advance.

Why? after the capture has been made you can view the files and your viewer will expand to full screen. The capture process is a CPU hog...and just by selecting the capability to view the incoming video on even a small screen adds to the pressure which already is being put on the CPU. By increasing CPU usage by capturing full screen you might run the risk of messing up your capture...or locking the machine up during the process.

Well I don't actually WANT to capture the video. I just want to *display* it. Like I said I want to be able to display it on a computer monitor the same way you could on a television if you connected the RCA cables or an S-Video cable.

There should be no real strain on the CPU at all since I don't actually want to capture any video. I just want to look at it.

You should be able to easily do this via your TV set if it has RCA and or S-video inputs. Is there any particular reason why you want to use your monitor solely just for viewing?

Well for one the thought of a full-screen high-resolution image on my monitor intrigues me...

But I would also like to do some things eventually with the signal. I'm experimenting with gigabit ethernet, and I'd like to so some local video conferencing.

And there are at least a dozen other things i'd like to try. But the reason i registered for this forum is that i've always wanted to display an incoming firewire signal on a monitor full-screen, but I've never heard of anyone doing it. So I figured maybe somebody somwhere in the world had figured-out how it was done.

If not then i'll just have to find some people to invent it.

ok u need to search for programs by ur self, capture prog with my leadtec winfast AGP let me see the capture video (without capturing) full screen , but then it dont hav dv input just svideo/composite.

my other card that i had was snazzi's avdv a 200 $+ card, it software also let me see the video full screen even while capturing, but then it was a hardware encoder...
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!
