    codec for all OS

    greetings,

    i am doing a school project and i need to create a video which can be played on all OS.
    i would also like to know if it possible to create a menu so that when the cd is inserted that it automaticly check's if the codec is available or not, and if not that it automaticly install the codec
    i have 2 days for this project so help would be lot apriciated
    what is the easy way to this

    summary:
    codec supported by all OS
    and when the cd is inserted it automaticly check if the codes is installed

    a simple mpeg1 file will play on all OS's and all computers, no codec required.
    MPEG1 can be a VCD = 1150 max bitrate, or a simple mpeg1 file with max bitrate of round 6000.

    anything else require codecs and for auto checking cd u need some kinda coding that i have no clue of....
    Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!

      I would check VLC (videolan) free, uses it's own codecs and plays most any type of video.
