    WMP Problem with Divx

    Hi.. i am new here
I have a problem with my Windows Media Player 9 (and v10 beta)
The Standard DivX Codec used to play all the movies i needed to play... but now after i formated my PC i installed the Standard DivX Codec and whenever i try to play a movie WMP opens and directly closes back! weird i tried to reinstall WMP and tried to reinstall the Standard DivX Codec file, but nothing seemed to changed.
PS: Windows Media Player works after i uninstall the Standard DivX Codec, but doesnt play some movies (ex: .avi) with the same old problem "error downloading codecs"
So the main problem is, why does my WMP crash after install Divx codecs? i tried the Divx player and it seems to work, but i prefer using WMP is most cases and it WMP just keeps on closing automaticaly when i try to play a movie , when the Divx codec is installed.

    Thanx

      Thank you for your reply
i downloaded it, and no use it plays just some movies and not all.. specially the .avi movies dont work anymore. i need the Divx Codec to work. the WMP Codecs are not that good.
Before i format the Divx Codec 5.1.1 used to play all my movies with WMP, but now if the Divx Codec is downloaded i cant open any movie with WMP, and if did WMP just disappears
whats wrong with the Divx Codec? why does it act this way with my WMP? before i format everything was fine with the Divx Codec though.

      Thanx

if you only want to PLAY the divx movies, and NOT encode your own, i suggest you uninstall divx and install a codec "ffdshow"...

        good luck
