Codecs

I have downloaded a lot of Divx avi's, but still in some of htem, i get an error from media player or microDVD saying it cannot render them. even the playa cant run them. i have divx 4.11 and the nimo codec pack 4.33 installed. Am i just getting bad files because the majority of mine work, or do i need to download a different codec?
