    Cannot read disk?

Hey guys, I'm kinda new to dvd burning...

I've been using dvd-shrink for about 2 weeks now and it's been working great.... since yesterday.

I was trying to burn LOTR - Two towers. The back-up! function seems to work great and even the burning did complete with no error.

When I try to play it in my dvd player, wich is a Panasonic or Sony PS2, it can't read the disk!

I tried two time with same result.. Does the DVD have some sort of protection on it? Or is it something else I'm missing?

Tx a lot for your informations guys!

To determine the capabilities/limitations of your specific brand and model of standalone DVD player, as well as media compatibility, go to:

The thing is that i'm still using the same DVD-r that I was using in the beginning!

So I'm not sure if it is a compatibility problem with my DVD player..

      Any other suggestion ? Thx!

"Does the DVD have some sort of protection on it?"

There is no different protection on this DVD than any other commercial DVD...

Does the burned DVD playback properly on your PC?

Well when I use the playback function in dvd shrink, it works well.

Maybe the burn process of the DVD went to fast, I've heard that 2x is the recommended speed for burning...

          Is that true?

This has sometimes proved to be beneficial...

If the disk will not play at all your problem is most likely NOT the burn speed. Lowering burn speed MAY help if your disk skips or freezes during playback. Check the compatibility list that seratrip listed. Many PS2 won't play burned disks and this could also be the case for your dvd player if the disk is working in the PC. If it's a problem with the disk you would have problems with playback on the PC also.

Ok I did check the compatibility and DVD-RW (from eworks) are supposed to be compatible with my Sony Playstation 2 and my Panasonic DVD player (DVD-RV31).

I'll try this out on another freind's DVD player...

PS2 has around 6 versions, some work, some don't.
