Do I need to convert this?

Hello chaps. Very new to this. I have this film which I have tried to watch. The file extension says it is a .ts.ftf.avi. Never heard of it. When I click on the properties> details, this is what I get:

Audio format: MPEG Layer-3,127 kBit/s, 44,100 Hz, Stereo

    Video format: 352 x 240, 24 Bits, 233824 Frames, 29.970 Frames/Sec, 13 KB/Sec, DIVXMPG4 V3.

I'm using media player with the DivX 412 codec.

Do I need to convert it or do I need a nother prog to view it on my puter.

    Thanx to anyone who helps.

    Rename to *.avi
    Download the 3.11 alpha codec

No renaming needed, only the extension after the last point is important and that's allready "avi". DivX4.12 should also be enbough to play the video.
Maybe the file is broken. The video-bitrate (13KB/sec = 104kbit/sec) normaly includes the audio-bitrate which allready is 127 kbit/sec.
What happens when you try to start the video?
      don't trust in guides

When I try to play it media player opens with:
"Window Media Player Error". When I click on details I get this:
Windows Media Player does not support this file type
        Error ID = 0x80040218, Remedy ID = 0x00000000

Thanx again for the help so far.

spider, Just a thought try opening it in a text editor you should see the letters avi inthe begining somewhere. I only say this because there a lot of bogus files on the net posted as avi's when infact they are just crap. ashuming you downloaded this file. if this is an avi then try virtualdub with this you can re-encode the file using a codec of your choice.

It's probably not an avi file in fact. Try using other programs, like Realplayer or Quicktime, or even programs that are not quite supposed to play media files.

How big is the file anyway? And how long is the movie, do you know?

You may have to face the facts and relize that its a fake movie. Your best chance at getting a real divx movie is newsgroups/usenet. i use forte agent as my client. its well worth wutever it costs.
