I have been having problems with pink shadows with dvd to avi files. They will play ok with WINDVD 3.0 and not with real player and when i convert the file to vcd it then will also play with pink shadowing in WINDVD. This is a problem because i would like to convert to VCD to play on a stand alone home dvd player.

What i do not understand is with win dvd or windows media player the movie looks great.
(untill I convert the avi to vcd)(i am using nero OR TMPGEnc to convert)
What i am calling pink will come and go.
it will slowly grow pink then will go to norm then grow pink again and sometimes will have pink tracers.
With real player , vitualdub , or TMPGEnc it looks like shit in avi or vcd with pink tracers and shadows
On my home dvd it also looks like shit
I am using a Nvita gforce2 ultra 64mb video card
on p4 1.30GHz 256mb ram computer
Is the coverting software not reading the avi Correctly??
Is this the best I can do to convert avi to vcd???
Does anyone else have this problem???
Why ?????? What the F@ck am i doing wrong????
HELP!!!!

I have the solution to pink shadows
Uninstall your angelpotion video codec by using add/remove programs in control panel. I know it's in there, it's causing your problem.
You will enjoy much better quality playback of your divx movies since they are now being played back using the correct settings, no more pink glow when converted to vcd mpegs.
If that doesn't fix the problem, you might want to cut back on your intake of hallucinogens. They sometimes cause similar problems. I've observed that the local (pacific NW USA) liberty cap mushrooms cause that "combing" affect on the horizon and deringing doesn't help.
Also, they make everything look "cartoonish" as well as displaying distorted colors....wait....what were we talking about?Last edited by DrinkOrDie; 23 Nov 2003, 09:17 PM.My toy:
