    Newbie - MV2 and M2V !!

    Hi,

Please can someone tell me the difference between MV2 files and M2V ?

I have many short .mv2 files which I want to join into a continuous stream.

Do I need to convert them to something more useable first?

    thanks

    Don

".M2V" files are MPEG-2 videostreams (no audio).

I am unaware of any legitimate/standard ".MV2" format...

      mv2

the mv2 files are created by a video capture program called 'gotcha'.

unfortunately the only mention I can find on the web are from poeple that seem to have spelt m2v wrongly.

even mv2 player doesnt recognise it

        Contact the program's author(s)...

          mv2 vs m2v

i have contacted the software company and they say there is no way to convert it that they know of.

it does give the option to export the files as .avi files, but this would be to time consuming to load each 15 second file and export it one at a time. (i have a months worth of video to convert).

although the software outputs a .mv2 files it does give the following compression options

          mv1 microsoft video
          mpeg v1
          mpeg v2
          mpeg v3
          mpeg v4
          uncompressed

any idea which of these may be more user friendly for future recordings?
