need to convert from .rm to avi or mpg

i have some very good movies (lotr, beautiful mind...etc) but they are in real media format (600 kb/s) my friend downloaded them when he was in another country that has dsl but my country has a 56k anyway he converted them to save space and he likes realplayer very much i realy dont know why?

EOVideo problems

I try to convert some southpark episodes from Real Media into Avi using EO Video. I set video and audio to uncompressed so I can compress it later using virtual dub. The process, it shows me the duration of the film that it has converted and it creates the avi which at the final stages gets up to 4 Gb but at the end it shows me an error message, something like "error writing to disk"

I have tried to encode it with DivX and with XviD, I tried to cut the parts to 25 minutes each but with no results...

Anyone knows what I'm doing wrong? Any suggestions on converting Real Media into avi other then EOVideo and tinra???
