I take music videos captured on VHS tape from satellite to make music videos on xVCD. I rip music videos from DVD's to create a "greatest hits " on DVD-RW. I would like to have the videos ripped from DVD in DD 5.1. Someone said you could change the name of a vob to mpg and it would act like an mpeg2 file. That is right. I can create a DVD-RW with Sonic's dvdit from these mpeg2's but I don't get sound. I believe I'm running version 2 of Sonic. I suppose I need version 3 with AC3 support? Any other options - ones that don't involve purchasing new software?
Secondly I want to start capturing music videos from satellite via S-Video directly to my computer to my All-in-Wonder Radeon AGP card. I have been using VirtualDub to capture from VHS tape. The VirtualDub allows me to attenuate the audio. When I have captured from VHS tape directly to the AIW card the volume was too loud on the resulting video. The volume control for the AIW card seems to be AFTER the capture - it has no control over what is captured. I also do not see the appropriate setting in the AIW firmware to capture mpeg2 in 720x480. You can do a custom capture. What settings would one use for mpeg2 or AVI?
Can anyone help me improve on these xVCD's and DVD's?
Thanks,
Dale
