    Hi there...

I cant believe that for that perfection that you insist so much on that your using (even though feature rich) the slowest rendering piece of software ever... Tis as also very few options to play with regarding some quality issues...

    Best of both is compromise.....

You can upload a small test file or email it to me...

I send private message to u with email on... ok?

      Options

I jusdt use MMaker for capturing,
after searching the net for tools,
I´ve selected and test 8, and all of them (may be better)
have a problem either on installing or conf, or else...
I use "problem-free" software because time is (my) main
      resource to achieve quality...

Do you have a strong/stable option that would not desconfigure/interfere my actual conf.?

Which bitrate your DV capture files has?

I´ll upload something during the weekend...

      Thanks

        DVD authoring tools

I was searching the right tool.
I had a great experence with tools from mediachance.com
But when entering the forums I realized the DVD LAB PRO
is still taking off when you need subtitle capabilities.

Do you know another tool that can handle this for a reasonable price (this one is u$s 200)

IN other aspects this tool seems great

          Test results

I realized that to compare results I have to upload files of
10MB (for a few seconds scene)

Therse are pieces of experiences collected:

          1. Using the artech365 DVtoMpeg tool,
which lets you select the uncompress format when capturing
          from DV.
Results (comparing the same capturing using Mainconcept codec)

          File size
          Dvcodec: 4MB per sec
          Uncompress: 8Mb per second

          Datarate
          Dvcodec: 3.5 MB
          Uncompress: 7.5Mb

          Quality differences
almost none, but DVcodec looks brighter/sharper
After compressing both files using MPEG,
          the differences came up,
surprinsingly the resulting file from the DVcodec was much
          better than the other...

Why? if datarate is 2 times higher on the other file?
Can datarate be a theoretical info stored in the file, I mean,
          not reflecting the reality?

          2. DVD created with source avi files
          compressed with Mainconcept DV
The image on a regular TV set was good, almost as sharp
as on the PC, but not as sharp as the original avi.

There´s a problem with margins, it seems 704 is better than 720.
specially if you have titles or designs on the image.

          3. When working with Adobe in sequences of more than 2 minutes
and lots of clips and filters, results are very unpredictable.
Many times the exported clip has 1 or more points along the clip
where a bunch of blocks of different colors blinks for a second or less. This is terrible because, no tool can check this, so
you have to waste your time in reviewing the whole clip
each time you change something and exporting it.
And in this process you just can´t miss a frame, no to miss the error, so is a 100% time lost.

          Questions:

          An easy DVD editing tool?
the only special feature I need is subtitles (at least 2)
DVD lab pro from mediachance is good, but has a bug
when subtitles exceed 844, may be next versions

Is PCM audio 100% compatible with dvd desk players?
All the dolby, layers, etc are too much complicated and saw
lots of people having problems with that...

A better video editing soft (and more stable) than Adobe?
I waste almost20% of editing time becauser of bugs
and other lost features (in old versions)

For example, I have to move to version 6.5 because
previous can´t play 48Khz sound on the timeline,
          (only on preview area)
I have over 1K of clips for editing, so re-process audio is
          out of the question.

Should I create my MPEGs for DVD with the interleace option?

I is all a matter of preference, specially whenit comes to editing software...

I Use Ulead VideoStudio 8.1, I came to find it was better than Pinnacles counterpart... Adobes premiere is far out of my purses reach...

            Subtitling software is available here

There are many more tools out there, it is again your personal choice...

I try and concentrate on the way videos are presented in dramatic and subliminar way... rather than waste too much time on too much quality...

Sweep the audience off their feet and they wont notice the little things...
