problem with audio-capturing from vhs with virtualdub

hi. i am first time user of virtual dub and want to digitalise some of my vhs-tapes.
and i have a problem with the audio capture. when i have this preview screen (already in capture mode but before i start capturing) everything is alright. the video is good and the audio sounds good. but i have problems then when i try to capture video+audio.
    with the following capture settings:
    video frame rate: 25
    drop % limit: 5

    >>> video looks good. but audio is soooo much faster than the video... it goes about twice as fast as the video...

    with the following capture settings:
    video frame rate: 1
    drop % limit:5

    >>> video is crappy (cos of the low frame rate), but audio has the right (normal) speed!

    usage:
i am using a "asus geforce2 gts v7700". and the above options i used with the normal capture mode. if i DO "lock video stream to audio" and use the compatibility mode the video runs as fast as the audio. and the audio runns sooo fast !
the timing is also activated. and i have sound onboard.

hope u can help me somehow!

    some info:
    i am using virtualDub 1.5.4
    i didn't try virtualdubmod
i am using winxp pro (no sp2)

Don't you have the capture programs that came bundled with your asus geforce2 gts v7700?

yes, but that program (asuslive) says, that there's a error with the capture driver.
i have "asus vfw capture driver" installed....

ok. no i got the package from the graphics card running

i use the "asus vfw capture driver" with the "asuslive" capture programm.
        but here's the same problem:

        frame rate: 25
        audio: super fast

        frame rate: 1
        audio: normal!

i also tried to install the newest wdm-drivers for my graphic-card (geforce 2 gts v7700) but they dont work:

maybe it would work with these new wdm-drivers, but why don't they work. ?!

Try changing the audio frequency setting in your capture software...

              What rate(s) have you tried?

Try capturing the audio at either 44,100Hz or 48,000Hz and at least 96Kbps...

                          "asus live"

I'd suggest you THOROUGHLY examine the setup options available for audio...

                            it works now for me.
                            it was a driver problem....

i tried loads of different drivers and on a huge page were 100s of people had problems, who had the same graphics-card like me, they postet many different "possible" solutions.

now it works with old display drivers and old wdm-drivers!
                            my daddy loves me now
cos he tried many many hours and i also lost many nerves cos i also tried many many hours. and some mins ago i started my last try to get it working.
