    I reached DEAD-END, need HELP!!!

    Hello everyone,

    I have Emprex 4x, firmware 0151, Memorex dvd-r 4x, GQ dvd-r 4x, dvdshrink 3.2, Roxio 6, Nero Ultra 6.xxxx, Win XP sp1 and ran into these problems:

I "dvdshrink" dvd contents to hd fine, Roxio burned it to above mentioned media without any problem reported, but dvds failed to play smoothly (ie froze, broken pictures) in standalone players. I tried to lower the burn speed but roxio screen only has the 4x option. Why?

So, I used Nero 6 express and "Burn Data --> Data Disc" option and simply burned the two folders AUDIO_TS, VIDEO_TS at 2x, and it burned fine, except the dvd would not even get recognized by standalone Coby and Panasonic players. Is that the method used for Nero???

I tested the burned dvd-r's with DVDInfoPro and no error dots reported.

What is the problem? Emprex burner, media, methods, etc..?

    Please help.

Try using higher quality media, such as Ritek, Ridata, Verbatim...

      setarip,

Did I use Nero express correctly?

Has anyone tried Roxio 6 Classic and able to select 2x or 1x for write speed?

"Did I use Nero express correctly?"

No - You should set NERO to "DVD-Video" mode and place all the DVD-related files (.IFOs, .BUPs, and .VOBs) into the RED "VIDEO_TS" folder - then burn...

            jmet,

I did use the label field and type in a dvd title I chose.

I see I was doing a lot of wrong things there.

What are the good and reliable media, guys? One that plays like commercial dvds, assuming you got the contents correctly (ie no compression, etc.)????

              1) Again, try using higher quality media, such as Ritek, Ridata, Verbatim...

              2) "jmet" was referring to ADHESIVE labels - There's nothing wrong with entering a "Volume label"...

I was referring to actual DVD labels you apply on top of the DVD's instead of writing on them.

I have used all kinds of media, and to be totally honest have never made a coaster until the other night when I used some Ritek DVD+R's I just bought. But, I don't think it was the media's fault on those coasters I made. I ran a virus scan right after I made those coasters and came up with a Trojan Horse that I got from a website.

                  Ok, thanks everyone.

I was able to burn one disc to work on a reg player following the nero rom method. Something was funny about dragging and dropping the AUDIO_TS, VIDEO_TS in Roxio Classic. It's miss or hit, cuz I had some successes before. Very strange. I do understand the CAP requirement and file structures.

Oh well, until next time then...

                    "thanks everyone."

                    My (Our) pleasure ;>}

(The Roxio software has a very poor reputation)
