    Does quality of DVD matter?

hey guys i have a newbie question. I just started burning dvd's and i wanna know if the quality of the dvd will affect the movie or the burner its self in any way? I heard that cheap dvd's tend to screw up ur laser in the burner? Is this true...i dont wanna pay $15 for 10 dvd's such as sony, when i can buy 25 for $10...but will it be safe for my burner and will the movie quality be the same?

Good media is the key to correct and satisfactory DVD burning in my opinion. Cheap(er) media will work SOMETIMES but, not all. DVD players can be very picky on what type it will play. It seems logical that cheap(er) media could put more stress on the burner and player itself if the media is not manufactured and structured properly. Its like everything else in life, you get what you pay for. Sure, cheaper media might work but, is it worth it if it causes malfunctions later on?

"It seems logical that cheap(er) media could put more stress on the burner and player itself if the media is not manufactured and structured properly."

I've never seen a report of poor quality burnable media causing physical damage to a burner...

Ok let me retract the statement of "It seems logical that cheap(er) media could put more stress on the burner"

I am sorry for my ignorance eurostylez but, it could damage your stand alone dvd player.

using welfare quality dvd's to burn movies defeats the purpose of creating a quality film, get off your wallet and buy something good(respectfully).
