    Nero Digital Decoder

I've been doing a lot of searching over the past several days and haven't been able to solve my problem so I hope someone here can help.

I have recently received several video files that are using Nero Digital Audio Decoder. The problem is the video plays fine but I can't get the audio to work. I've tried ripping the audio file out and converting it but that doesn't seem to work. I've tried different programs but again, no luck. Can anyone recommend how to fix this issue?

My specs: Windows XP SP2, 512MB RAM, Athlon XP 2800+, Sound Blaster Live!

Thanks for any thoughts and recommendations.

Could it be that these files are encoded with DTS Audio?

Make sure you are selecting DTS Sound with SB Live.
    Cheers!

This is an older SB Live! card and doesn't support DTS as far as I know. I can't find a DTS option in any case.

I don't know if these files were encoded with DTS audio but I'm going to look into that as a possible option.

If you have any other suggestions please let me know. Thanks!

Have you tried installing an .AC3 audio codec/filter?

I did. I just installed the latest AC3filter 1.01a which says it has AC3 and DTS support.

When I try playing the file in Windows Media Player 10 and look at the file properties it says the Video Codec is Nero while the Audio Codec is now AC3filter so I assume I should be hearing something now but I'm not.

And a look at the file name states that it is AC3.

          Still scratching my head...

            What IS the entire filename?

            1) Load the original video file into VirtualDubMOD
            2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

            3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

Attached is a screen cap of the File Information. It's interesting that the audio only lists the number of frames as 2. I suppose the file could be corrupt but that doesn't seem likely.

Anyhow, thanks for the suggestions and help.

This MPEG-2 file contains NO audio, plain and simple.

Again, what IS the entire filename? )It appears to be a clip from a DVD)...

If your method of "receiving" this illicit rip of an apparently commercial DVD was via download, it's most likely that it's corrupt - either intentionally ("you get what you pay for") or as the result of an incomplete download...

download and install the AC3 audio codec, and it should fix the problem,
if it doesnt work, uninstall any codec's you currently have installed and download Ace Mega Codecs Pack

only install the codec's you need, ie, AC3 and Mpeg layer 2, leave off the rest

if that still doesnt work, then the .avi files are rooted
