Unable to hear sound on DVD player, though it works on computer

    Hi,
I'm a newbie to DVD burning.

I just burnt a DVD using the DVDShrinker software. It plays fine on my computer, but when I try to play in on my Sony DVD player, it does not have any sound. The video is fine though.

When I ripped the DVD, I only unselected the AC3 2-ch French and Spanish options but left everything else the same.

Any suggestions as to what could be wrong?

    Thanks!

Did you select the DTS-sound track and your stand alone player can't deal with that system?

I dont remember specifically selecting a DTS soundtrack anywhere. In the "Backup DVD", "Quality settings" tab, I chose the Sharp option for the DVD Shrink 3.2 quality enhancements option, but thats the only deviation from the other default options for compression.

I dont care if I dont get DTS in my audio, so I can try again by turning it off, if I can find it. Would you tell me where I would unselect this option?

Take a look at this guide - it will tell you how to do it.

Hmm useful guide. I rechecked and found that I used Stereo for the Preview tab. I'm assuming that this is what you were referring to.
I can repeat it, but I need to know what I have to change. Did I need to fix something in the the preferences or shrinking stage or burning stage using DVDShrink?

You need to select the soundtracks you want in the main window under audio section of DVDShirnk also. (in the right side)

"when I try to play in on my Sony DVD player, it does not have any sound."

Try using your standalone DVD player's remote control ("Audio" or "Language" button) to select a different audiotrack...

                Hey setarip,
Your suggestion worked! All I had to to was to alternate between 3 audio settings on the DVD player and one of them worked. Incidentally, it was the Dolby surround option (which cynthia pointed out wasnt configured in my dvd player).

                Thanks to both of you.
