I just reformated my hard drive because of those damn codec packs...could someone tell me all the codecs that i need to play most of all files

Assuming you've reinstalled Windows (and its builtin codecs), all you should probably need is the FFDShow filter/codec for playback...

Windows built-ins plus, perhaps, an .AC3 filter/codec and a better .MP3 codec than the Windows built-in...
