    look at this:

Ask questions on any topic, get real answers from real people. Have a question? Ask it. Know an answer? Share it.

Basically, they are of different physical formats (invisible to you, the user).

Additionally, DVD-Rs can store a tiny bit (6Mgs) more data than can DVD+Rs.

The ONLY reasons to select one or the other are:

      1) Does your burner recognize either or both?

      2) Do the standalone players that you'll typically be using for playback recognize either or both?

Check your manual or download DVDInfoPro.

or.. look up your device name in Windows Device Manager and check www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters
This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!
