    ASF file format--need serious help!!

    Some please help me!!
I recently purchased a digital camcorder that will only record in ASF format. I'm trying to figure out how to convert this format into somthing that will play in my dvd player. Supposedly, I should be able to play this:

    *********Formats

Along with its ability to play DVD-Video and Audio CD, the S35 can also play MP3 and WMA compressed audio files as well as display JPEG images (somewhat slow) on your TV, play burned CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-RAM (including DVD-RAM recorded on Panasonic DVD Video Recorders).

It also plays DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW and DVD RW discs. Make sure you use quality media – the player may start freezing if using low quality CD-R discs.

I successfully played Imation DVD-R discs as well as KHypermedia DVD+R (CMC) in addition to Sony, Maxell, Memorex and TDK CD-R as well as Acer CD-RW.

The VCD and XVCD playback are also available, and you can choose to see the bit rate on the screen while the VCD/XVCD is running, which allows you to determine if the XVCD is constant or variable bit rate.

There is even an SVCD playback. The speed changes and mode changes (e.g. FF-Play, Rew-Play, etc.) are slower than those in DVD-Video playback mode though. ************

With that said, I do not have a DVD burner, only a CD burner. I have already tried to convert the ASF file into MPEG1 and MPEG2 formats. Put the new file on a CD and, Nothing! I also tried a WMV file. Still no good. I'm using a trila version of boilsoft asf converter. I don't want to purchase anything until I know it is going to work. Someone, ANYONE!, PLEASE help me. What do I need to do? Thanks in advance. I know someone in this forum can tell me how to do this. I've read all kinds of posts' and you guys sound like freakin' geniuses!!!!!!

you can use tmpgenc to convert the asf. to mpg-1. i have done it many times. then you can make a VCD and burn it on a CD-R, and play that on your standalone DVD player(provided it supports VCD format).

I do't want to ask to much, but I need someone to walk me through this. All I'm asking for is one time. I'll be able to do it again and again after that!!! Please someone help me.
