I need to rip a DVD and edit clips from the movie while keeping as close to DVD quality as possilble. Does anyone know of a program that will allow me to do this?

Closest to dvd-quality is dvd. Rip to hdd, save as project with dvd2avi, convert to pseudo-avi with vfapi, edit the dvd-quality-pseudo-avi with VirtualDUB or anything else.
