u need firewire cable and firewire / ieee1394 capturing card/port
software to capture video from ur camera to computer
can capture as DV-AVi or MPEG2/dvd compatible video if ur pc is fast enough. or get a hardware based capturing card.

pinnacle studio , ulead videostudio , cyberlink powerdirector are few examples of the softwares can try all of them for free, before gettin one u like.

Good on ya mate! (heard that on one of my son's videos and liked it). I understand the urge sometimes to vent frustration at some of the "less thoughtful" posts.
