    Splitting an MPG-1 Movie

    Hi.

I have a 800mb VCD and I want to burn it. I would like to split the movie in half to fit on two CDs. What is the best tool to do that, and how?

    Thanks,
    Kuphryn

    Use TMPGEnc as follows:

Under the "Files" dropdown menu, click on "MPEG Tools" and select the "Merge & Cut" tab. Make sure to change the mode to "MPEG1-Video CD". Load your file and enter a new (.MPG) name in the "Output file" box. Then doubleclick on the ORIGINAL file's name in the window, which will bring you to the cutting area. Select your desired start and end points for the first half, click on "Okay" which will bring you back to the first window and generate (in a sequence of three automated steps) the first new file. To create the second new file, repeat the steps starting with "Then doubleclick on the ORIGINAL..." (be extra patient with the second half, as the program has to do more seeking to establish the beginning of the new file)

      Need help splitting (settings)

I'm splitting an mpg file with TMPGEnc and tried these intructions:

It split the file up into 2 small 25MG files BUT it's only the opening credits on BOTH files. Is there other setttings i might be misssing that will fix this or am i just doing something wrong?
      Can someone please help me?

      THNX!

              To mikeylikess99

              1) Load the DivX-compressed .AVI file into VirtualDub (or any of its variants) or NanDub

              2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

              3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

The audiostream is probably in either .AC3 format or Variable Bitrate MPEG Layer 3 (VBR .MP3).

If it proves to be .AC3:

In TMPGEnc, under the "Environmental Settings" "VFAPI plugin" tab rightclick on the "Direct Show Multimedia Reader" and increase to the highest priority. This will enable TMPGEnc to accept a properly encoded .AVI with .AC3 audio for input...

If it proves to be VBR:

Simply use VirtualDubMOD (Different than standard VirtualDub), to save the audio stream as an Uncompressed PCM (WAV) file as follows:
Using VirtualDubMOD to Convert "VBR" .MP3 to Uncompressed .WAV

              1) Load the .AVI file into VirtualDubMOD (a different program than the standard VirtualDub)

              2) From the "Video" dropdown menu, select "Direct Stream Copy"

              3) From the "Streams" dropdown menu, select "Stream List" - and rightclick on the audio stream, then select "Full Processing Mode" - then click on "OK"

              4) From the "File" dropdown menu, save with a new filename

I guess you didn't want to bother posting the "File Information"...
