laptop vga to tv

im using a laptop that only have vga output. i bought this vga adapter that has a video out and s video out, thinling it would be easy to hook it out. but it turn out that my tv set so up blank. any one know any software that can set to tv resolution manually cuz my laptop only shows 800x600 the lowest.

The resolution is not your problem. Your problem I think is with the "Adapter" thingy you bought.

so its there any way i can change the vga resolution to tv resolution and still use the same adater i bought.

when i enable the second display which its connected to the tv, it just blink for less than 1 sec on my tv and it seem that the tv its not reciving any signal at all from my vga port.
