Fastest ffdshow settings?

I just wanted to know if default ffdshow settings are the best as for performance of mostly Divx3-5 and Xvid movies.....if not is there a proper setup guide for this available ? Thanks....

the question will be how you define performance?

is speed your main issue (as indicated in your title)?

in this case any postprocessing will slow you down, but of course will improve picture quality

are you having playback problems?
if so, what are your system specs?
