virtual dub problem really easy for you to answer 2 mins !

Hi I have a divx file that has wav audio and my divx player wont play this movie file (no audio) on my divx dvd player as it doeant support wav audio.

I have extracted the wav audio from the divx file. by choosing the save wav option.

I have then converted the wav audio file to mp3.

I now have 2 files.

1 >> mp3 audio file

2 >> divx movie with no audio


all I need to no is how do I mix both of these files togther using vurtual dub ??

By doing what you've done, you run the risk of an out of synch file. There is no need to extract (demultiplex) the audio. Instead, do the following:

1) Load the original .AVI into VirtualDub

2) Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copy" and "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"

3) From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Compression" - and choose the .MP3 ("MPEG Layer 3") sampling rate you prefer

4) Save with a new filename

I was all ways told that the method you are telling me to use is the biggest cause of out of synch.

was told this fromt he guys from divx.com

any way I have tried doing it your way and I get this error

"error initializing audo streeam compression"

any ideas on wot the problem may be ???

can you think of any easy tool out there been trying to fix this for the last 2 hours I am not bother if it is slightly out of synch as its a fighting event I want to watch.

any ideas ??

Not if the initial audiostream is, in fact, in .WAV format...

1) Load the original video file into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub

2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

When you choose your audio compressor choose Lame mp3 at 128 kbps cbr stereo. This has worked for me. You can d/l Lame mp3 in the tools section here (free).
