    dvd capacity

    this is probably a dumb question...but why do the movies I back up take 4.35 GB but the DVD's I use say 4.7 GB capacity....is there a way to use the entire 4.7???

    As has been discussed many times at these forums, the ACTUAL capacity of a blank DVD5 (single-sided, single layer) is 4.37Gb, using the STANDARD computer users' (and manufacturers' and software producers') definition of a Gb as 1,024 bytes x 1,024 x 1,024 x 1,024 - as opposed to the DVD manufacturers' definition of a GB as 1,000 bytes x 1,000 x 1,000 x 1,000...
