Can't play DVD on Apex DVD player?

Why can't my apex DVD player play my copied DVD's when the rest of our DVD players can?

Welcome to the Digital Video Forums of Digital Digest!

It's usually a matter of media compatibility.

To determine the capabilities/limitations of your specific brand and model of standalone DVD player, as well as media compatibility, go to:

In addition to what setarip advised, do a Google search for Apex firmware. You can upgrade the players firmware as simply as you upgrade your burnerws.

I'm using sony +R blank DVD's. Some copied DVD's play on the Apex DVD palyer and some don't. I'll try the firmware thingy.

Okay I couldn't find a firmware upgrade for my player, but to be more specific regarding the problem the player will play the disks but certain scenes appear with different colored squares in them and eventually it will freeze up and not play anymore.

"certain scenes appear with different colored squares in them and eventually it will freeze up and not play anymore."

Is very different than your initial post of:

"Why can't my apex DVD player play my copied DVD's when the rest of our DVD players can?"

            1) As I stated earlier, it's usually a matter of media compatibility.

            2) Try running a DVD/CD cleaning disc on your Apex. maxell makes one that retails for approximately $10US

look at your media the cheap stuff I find works on some but not on all dvd players . Its a combination of Software, Media, and ability. I would use the best media so many use cheap media, that works on some but not on all dvd players..

I don't think its the media, I use Sony +R and imation +R: apex does support the +R. The DVD player is brand new, it's an apex PD 480 portable DVD player. Some of the movies I haven't been able to get to work are Resident Evil: Apocalypse, The Aviator and Flight Club. Other DVD players that will play the movies are: Sony, sanyo, magnavox.
