    AVI to DivX: Increase Quality

Is it possible to increase the video and audio quality of a movie when converting it from AVI to DivX using VirtualDub? If so, how would one go about doing this?

    .Avi is DivX.
You can increase some quality adding additional filters on the DivX in VDub.

      ".Avi is DivX. "

At the risk of sounding a little picayune, that's not exactly correct. DivX is one compression format, of many, which can be used to create .AVI files. And, of course, you can create uncompressed .AVI files as well.

Depends on how bad the video looks. Sometimes you can apply the appropriate filter onto it (eg. smoother) and reduce the artifacts well enough so that the overall quality of the video is improved.

However, I doubt you can ever make a 56kbps MP3 track sound anywhere as good as a 128kbps one. I've not seen one that actually works.
