Bali DVD problem?

Can playing cheap Bali DVD's damage a DVD player? I've allready had a lazer replaced under warranty. There seems to be a horrible smell coming out of the player like its getting a little hot. It doesn't happen all the time but I dont want to stuff up another player.

they won't damage it. but the machine obviously has problems. take it back.
