Ifsmgr Bsod

I've bought Toshiba DVD 16x DVD/48x CD.
When I put CD/CDR/CDRW medium, everything is OK.
The drive read it correctly.
But when I insert DVD disk my comp goes to BSOD
with error in IFSMGR.
What's wrong?

Shouldn't you head over to Toshiba website and look for information on your DVD burner regarding any possible problems? It's more likely to yield solutions.

Try deselecting the Disconnect option for your CD Rom.

Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

Double-click System, and then click the Device Manager tab.

Double-click CD-ROM, and then double-click your installed CD-ROM device.

On the Settings tab of the CD-ROM Properties sheet, clear the check box next to the Disconnect option.

Click OK or Close.

Restart your computer when you are prompted.

I found it is caused by DMA set on.
I have Intel440BX chipset, DVD is connected as secondary master single. When DMA is set on, CDs are read correctly, but when I insert any DVD, computer hangs or goes to BSOD with IFSMGR.
Strange!

You will need to update your IDE Bus Master drivers if your having trouble with DMA enabled. This normally only happens with Win95, as it required a file called PIIX4.exe (or soemthing like that) applied to get Win95 to properly reconize the LX/BX chipset. Intel chipsets are normally well catered for in Windows OS's.

You could get the Mass Storage ATA driver from Intels website, as this is very stable and will give you a small boost too.

IFSMGR is the Installable File System manager in you wish to know.

I have W98SE and I didn't find any newer driver for my FIC FB11 board. All updates are for W95. Windows 98 should have all drivers included.
But what is strange that when I have DMA set on, I can read all CDs, but when I insert DVD...

Try this one.

Also did you check to see if the disconnect option was enabled when you played with the DMA setting???

Thanx for the driver. I searched Intel site, but...
I have tried to check and uncheck disconnect checkbox, but without no effect
But with DMA disabled the DVD playback is OK too, chipset is Intel BX, so it doesn't support ATA66/100, so it is not so important,
if the driver does not work.
Thanks for help from all of you.
