How do I play burned DVD's on my Xbox?

I am very new to burning discs, and I would really like to know if there is a way to play burned discs on Xbox. If there is not, what is a good DVD player to buy that does play burned discs? Thanks for helping a newbie!

I only use DVD+R and DVD+RW. I have never experienced problems with DVD players not able to play the DVD media I burn.
I think the DVD+ media should be more compatible with DVD players than DVD-.

However, there's a lot of DVD players on the market and tons of DVD media brands, versions, quality etc.. In addition, some players and some media are not distributed to this or that region/country.. so how can one recommend something ? It would help if you can provide a list to pick from.. like what brands of DVD and media are available for you ?

Also - I suggest you just look up some of the DVD media-player compatibility surveys you have on the web and see what is relevant for your needs and region.

    Example:
    1. http://www.dvdtoday.com/Recordable%20DVD%20Test.htm
    2. http://www.google.co.il/search?hl=xx...+compatibility
    3. http://www.google.co.il/search?num=2...+compatibility

Actually DVD-R is more compatible with most standalone DVD players and gaming consoles. Reason being is that they were developed before DVD+R, I always have bad encounters with +R.

"I would really like to know if there is a way to play burned discs on Xbox."

You should be able to play your properly burned discs on your XBox. Try one (That you know has been properly and successfully burned).

Note: Your SPECIFIC XBox may prove to be limited to reading ONLY DVD-Rs or ONLY DVD+Rs. You can determine this by burning the same DVD onto one of each format...

If you have more questions, always feel free to ask them...

XBox really doesn't like +R, they just skip through the entrie movie or don't play at all.

Skipping or don't play at all are not signs that "XBox" don't like them. That is the sign of cheap poorly manufactured media being used and/or burning to fast.

Even when they play fine in standalone players? Even with different brands of +R?
