Welcome to the Digital Video Forums of Digital Digest!
A .VOB file is merely an MPEG-2 file with enhanced capabilities (multiple audiostreams, multiple subtitles, etc.). A homebrewn .VOB such as your, undoubtedly does not make use of any of the enhanced features. You should, therefore, be able to simply change the extender from ".VOB" to ".MPG"...
after i copied the file to my computer it was .VOB; then i tried to use rename and it does not work.i cant change the extender to mpeg. what are the steps to change the extender?
thanks
Hello everyone. I have a question about converting VOB to MPEG. See I ripped my DVD and got 4 VOB files but I don't want VOB files. I want MPEG so I don't take too much space. Is there a program where I can compress a 0.99 GB VOB file to something less.
I pulled a VOB out of a DVD that I want to edit using Sony Vegas 6. However, Vegas doesn't decode it properly in the timeline. It only does like 3 minutes of the video which is much longer than that. The VOB file has two audio streams, one in English and the other one in Spanish. I renamed the extension to MPG but Vegas still doesn't open it properly and Windows Media Player freezes when trying to play it. However, I can play the VOB file in PowerDVD just fine with no problems. I tried "#1 Video Converter" software to do the conversion to regular MPG and after the conversion the MPG plays fine in WMP, however it plays the wrong audio stream (Spanish). Is there any program out there that is better than the one that I am using to properly convert the VOB to MPG which gives me the ability to select the correct audio stream? Thanks!
