DVD+r -r +RW How long do they last how long will they last

Are the dvd+r Companies just bulls****ing us are they on our side, do they make these blank dvd to last long or just say so, or is it their plan to just make new upgradeable dvd's so we keep buying them and havin to re-copy over and over agan, from dvd-r to dvd+r, are they going to change the symbols anytime soon, change the color, make them smaller, so we have to buy new dvd payers or drives, and we are going to have to buy even more blank dvds

even though our tapes work from the 80's we still have no guaranty that dvd's will last that long.


before I herd of dvd shrink and decypter I made copy's of a few movies back in early 2000 and now with all the new software dvd player and my recorder the dvd's are non readable in my drive and ps2 and dvd player maby the disk are too old, the were not brand name, but if they were brand name would I have the same problem

Quality DVDs will, if taken care of properly, last longer than you - certainly longer than the technology.

Keep them outa UV and you will be OK. See here.

I have seen poor media (Bulkpaq - not mine) last only six months before the data was corrupted and refused to play. They also don't work unless around 300-400MB was taken off the capacity. They skipped when at the edge.

I now stay away from that brand of disc even if they use different dye.

I do have some Datwrite +R that I bought before getting into -R's. They still work fine after over two years and I consider them to be cheaper made compared to my Riteks which cost a fraction of the Datawrites. The Datawrites originally cost me £1.20 each and the Riteks cost just 18p each.

so which are the best dvd's out there like the top 5 base on read speed scratch's and other tests
