What is EMULATED DVI and how can i make sure i dont buy it ?

i tried searching for emulated DVI on google search but without any search results at all. and yet all these store clerks i goto keep telling me how there is true and emulated DVI and how they know which is which but they cant explain it. how about that for customer service! im pretty sure that if spend 500$ on a card that it will be non emulated, but that means i have to dish out so much more than i need to.

anyhow, if anyone has info or links then they would be appreciated.

i've never heard of 'emulated dvi', do these clerks claim it is caused by video cards?

just buy any ATI (Xxxx series) or NVIDIA (6xxx series) card. they're lying.

even the very low-end cards have good dvi, costing around $AU45...
