Questions on cutting parts off of movie.

I know how to cut parts off the movie and such but I'm wondering if virtualdub creates another file with the scenes cut out or if it just replaces the old file.
I'm worried because the current computer I'm using has limited space and I'm afraid that it will not be able to support another large file.

It creates a new file, is doesn't alter the original.

virtualdub cannot replace/overwrite the file it is working from, so you're going to have to clear up some space, or burn to cd/dvd, and work from there...
