    divx playback problem

    Hi.
    my problem is that when i play divx movies ( happend also in sim city 4 , i dunno if relevant )
    the video freeze and the sound keep's repeating the last half a second , and only hard reset works , no ctrl + alt + del , nothing , it doesnt always happens , ive tried bs player wmp , wmp classic , divx player , gdivx and almost all other players , change the codec's like a 1000 times , downloaded all the latest drivers of the software ,
    im runnin on winxp pro sp2
    amd 64 3500+ 2.2 venice proccesor
    gigabyte k8 triton mother board
    radeon x700 gfx card
    1.5 giga ram
    2 160 wd HD's
    and extigy 2 zs
    if you can help me with this problem it would be great , just got this comp , and its a shame that it doesnt work well.

    first off, uninstall all 'codec packs' that you may have put on your system.

    then, download & install the latest 'ffdshow' (the celtic_druid version) from http://www.free-codecs.com

    then play your files

    does this happen with all avi files?

    also just to be on the safe side, check your pc for spyware/adware/viruses...

      thank you for the recomendations , done them.
      yeh it happens with all of avi files and sometimes mpeg , untill now the computer hasnt froze yet ,but still sometimes the film repeats a second for 3 -4 times and then continue.

        i dont think this problem is related to the codec

        sounds more like chipset/overclocking problems

          i got the latest chipset drivers , no overclocking and a new motherboard / proccessor
